My Favorite Layouts for 2011

Hi everyone! It's the time of the year once again to recall and reflect on some of my all time favorite layouts that I created over the year. Unlike last year, I made less layouts this year due to Hannah's health issue and my new work. Also, I decided to lessen my DT positions to compensate my busy schedule.

Despite a busy year, I am so blessed to be part of a lot of amazing teams. I was part of the Pebbles Inc and Kaisercraft Design Team that ended middle of this year but now, the opportunity to work with BasicGrey and Cosmo Cricket came surprisingly.

I truly believed that I have grown as an artist and as a scrapbooker over the year. This is my time to see how much I have grown. I will do this month by month to see the progress I made.

Wow that was hard. I love every single layout that I did so it's really tough to narrow them down to one per month.

Now my realization:
  • Hannah is still my muse, 80% overall
  • Most of my layouts doesn't have journaling
  • I still can't figure out what mys style is because I don't see any cohesiveness in my pages (unless my style is not having any style at all)
  • I am still loving handcutting patters from patterned papers
  • I can't get enough of layering
  • I only submitted to one magazine call, luckily, my page was in the cover
My Scrapbook Resolution
  • start project life this year
  • add journaling to all my pages
  • create more pages of myself and my dh (I will demand that he allows me to take photos of him)
  • I know I love layering but I would love to try to make simpler designs (due to time constraints)
  • I know shipping layouts is expensive but I will try to submit to mag calls this year
  • I miss joining challenges online, I would love to participate more
Well that's it! I truly would like to thank all of you for continuously supporting me, reading and commenting here in my blog and for following my journey as a scrapbooker. I owe all my achievements from all of you. You are all special to me and I value each and everyone of you. THANK YOU!

Wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed New Year!!!

last minute addition

WOW it has been pretty busy lately, right? A lot of preparing, cleaning, traveling, and smiling. The New Year is coming and everything will be pretty much the same again. So, before the craziness begin, I decided to scrap. Yup, you read it right, I was able to finish a couple of layouts (fast ones) just to make sure that I still know how to do it.

The first one is a layout using BasicGrey Picadilly collection. You all know how much I love this line with all the subtle colors and pretty patterns. The design I made for this layout is pretty simple because I just want to highlight the cool patterns that came with this collection.

The second layout that I did was using some leftover scraps from My Scrapbook Nook's November kit featuring Times and Seasons. At first I was hesitant with the colors but eventually I fell in love with this kit.

a close up

Thanks for dropping by once again! Watch out for my year-end review that will start tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your week and thanks for all your comments.

BasicGrey + Core’dinations Cardstock

Two weeks ago at BasicGrey blog, we highlighted the gorgeous ColorCore Cardstock with different BasicGrey collection. For my project, I used the cardstock for my background and as embellishment.

I chose the light pink and turquoise colored cardstock because I love the patterns in it and the colors were perfect with the Picadilly line.  For my background, I decided to only sand the edges of the cardstock so that the lining and some part of the design will show up. I like the illusion it created making the center bare.

On the other hand, I sanded the entire turquoise cardstock to show all the doily patterns. I love any type of doilies so I cut 2 pieces and used it as an embellishment.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a stress-free week everyone!

Times and Seasons

It is the time of the year that everybody is very busy preparing for the holiday. This is the season of love, joy and happiness. I am so grateful for having another fruitful year blessed with a loving family, great friends and a hobby that makes my life colorful.

Today I just want to share with you 2 more layouts that I did using My Scrapbook Nook's November kit featuring Echo Park's Times and Season.

**the word Figers (right term: FINGERS) here is intentional. This is how Hannah pronounced it when she was 1 yr old and I thought it would be fun to use it.

The color combination is masculine but I found it easy to play with using different kind of photos. Here, I added a lot of misting to make both layouts pop.

Blog Feed Fixed!!!

Okay, at first i thought everybody was busy lately that is why my blog was quite quiet with very few comments from my previous posts (almost 2 months worth). It was only last weekend that I noticed that my blogfeed is not updating on my follower's website. I checked last weekend and I saw that my blog was last updated 2 months ago?!!

Seriously?! I am not sure what blogger has been doing but wow. Before I had some issues commenting on other blogger accounts and now this! Good thing I have a techie husband who was able to fix it yesterday when I told him about it. NOW EVERYTHING IS WORKING! I hope it stays the same.

I do apologize if you got a flood of blogfeed from my blog, it comes with the update the DH did. Thanks for your continuous support! Happy Holidays!

We would love to hear how everyone spends Christmas Day. Even if you do NOT celebrate Christmas, what do you do on Christmas Day?

Remember that you are allowed to also create a card or altered project based on this sketch and instead of the journalling criteria you need to use a quote.

A Call to Chippies!

Chipboards? Who doesn't love chipboards? These are actually my go to products if I find something missing in my layouts. It makes projects interesting, it adds dimension and very fun to use when various techniques are applied.

Imaginarium Design chipboards  are one of the best in terms of quality and designs. The detailing are amazing and the edges are so smooth. Plus, their old and current DTs provides their consumers a lot of great ideas to use their products in their blog. You can check out their website to see the variety of chipboard products they have by clicking here.

Now off to déjà vu time with some of my chipboard projects:

Quick and Simple
The amazing thing about chipboards are, they can be used as is or you can simply color it and use it in your project. Even kids can do it!!!

In this layout, I just distressed the edges of the chipboard and viola! the look is perfect for the theme!

Here I have used Heart Top Picket Fence by Imaginarium. By simply using a teal paint, I was able to make everything cohesive with the color combo I used.

Shining, Shimmery, Splendid
I adore using glitters in my chipboards! The sparkle is soo gorgeous and I love the texture it creates.

Example 1

 Example 2
Crackle and Distress
We all know that crackle paint and distress inks are perfect for chipboards, and I totally agree about that!

A great way to dress chipboards is by using stamps. With all the variety of stamp images available, you can simply personalize those chipboards.

Using Chipboards as Masking Templates
I love misting on my layouts. Sometimes I use it directly on paper but most of the time I use my chipboards as templates.

The chipboard here is not visible but I used a chipboard negative to achieve my leaves background image.

Color Blending
I am a Fine Arts graduate and my love of colors is overwhelming that is why I love to blend colors.

Yep! I used sand on my chipboards as well. I love the texture of sand so much on this card.

I also love overlapping my chipboards to achieve the depth that I want. I use this technique in texts or shapes.

Example 1

So by now I'm sure you were able to figure out that I am trying my luck to be part of the Imaginarium DT call. I know a lot of talented artists, scrapbookers, and cardmakers out there who'll be perfect for their team and I'm sure they will be able to get the best of the best to represent their brand. Wishing us applicants all the luck.

thanks for dropping by!
