Scrappin' Moms Idol 3: Round 2 & 3

Good day to everyone!

I just want to apologize for being away for the past few days. I was at the hospital since Sunday because my DD, Hannah, was hospitalized due to some viral infection. I would like to thank everyone who sent their regards and prayers, she's doing better now. Here are some photos of her:

Anyway, I would love to share to you my layouts for Scrappin Moms Idol3 Round 2 & 3. Yes, I made it through these next rounds.

Round 2: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

For this particular challenge, I was inspired to use earthtone colors to signify Mother Earth. I have even edited my photos to add a more vintage feel to it. They are taken a few weeks ago but I made them look as if it was older and aging.

REDUCE - I have used a beige cardstock (1 CS) and BasicGrey's Archaic pp (1PP) as a requirement to this challenge. I made a semi-negative space layout to incorporate white space to it. I have also limited my use of embellishments to a felt flower, Bobunny rubons, ribbon and beads.

By using only one pp (not doublesided), I decided to apply a paper technique, PAPER ROLLING, to add depth and dimension to my layout. I just thought this will be quite different from what others will do to their pp

REUSE - for this particular requirement, I reused the Butterfly Sticker by applying a masking technique on my cardstock before adhering the exact butterfly sticker to my layout. You will notice that the sticker was already transformed into a different color due to the ink but worked perfectly well with the color combination I chose to use.

RECYCLED - I have recycled the plastic container packaging (We R Memory Keepers Flower packaging) by using it as my photo frames, not only a photo frame but a photo shaker frame. I added beads on it to make my layout more fun and playful.

JOURNALING:
As you GROW into what you will be
You came from within, from just beneath my HEART
It's there you'll always be though your own LIFE will now start
You're growing so fast it sends me awhirl
With misty eyes I ask, where's my little BABY?

MATERIALS USED: beige cardstock, BasicGrey Archaic pp, Petals & Possibilities Metalic embellishment, Webster Cocoa Trim lace, BoBunny Rub-ons, BasicGrey Bitsy Stamp, Felt, Embroidery Floss, We R, Memory Keepers Flower packaging, Beads, BasicGrey Element Sticker, Burlap Cloth, Tim Holtz Distress inks - Tead Dye and Walnut Stain, PinkPaislee Alpha Stickers, AC Thickers

TECHNIQUES APPLIED: Distressing, paper tearing, inking, masking, stamping, stitching

Round 3: Space It Out! (White Space Challenge using 8 photos)

On this layout, I was inspired by the 206th Idea from the document, "A Day at the Park" Photos were taken last June 21 at Quezon City Memorial Circle. I decided to use film strips to convey continuity of the photos.

Journaling:
QC Memorial Circle June 21 2009
