Project Life 2012 - WEEK 2 January 9 to 15

Hi everyone!

2nd week of January was very exciting for me and my family. That week Hannah won her 3rd Gold medal at the age of 3 in their school's Art Contest. I wanted to highlight that moment that is why I have used a big photo of her when she was on the stage to receive her medal and show off her work.

(Hannah's masterpiece! Pretty good for a 3 year old I might say)

Week 2

I used 2 different page protectors design for my week 2 spread. Both are by WRMK. I love the pockets that allows me to use larger sized photos to emphasize events. The filmstrip design that I added on my 2nd page was actually created in Photoshop. I love this idea to tell a story.

Thanks for dropping by once again!

Make sure to visit BasicGrey's blog to see gorgeous projects using the new collections. Anyway for now I want to share with you a layout that I made using one of BG's new line as well, Kissing Booth.

Here I was inspired by a PageMap sketch. I love the grid design and it was perfect for the embellishments that is in this collection. Here I have used the Blank Cards and placed a hidden journaling in it. I also adore the Die Cuts and Transparencies,

Project Life 2012 - WEEK 1 January 1-8

After a year of procrastinating, I decided to join a lot of scrapbookers doing Project Life. I decided that this year would be a good start since I have fewer DT responsibilites and commitments. I find it a great way to capture ordinary memories and making it important. Laundry day, playtime, storytelling, shopping for new clothes are regular day-to-day event but with this project, I can make it alive in our memory.

The enjoyment of this project can also be difficult since I am quite an OCD. I was scared at first because I might end up pressuring myself to make it look perfect. At first it took me a long time to do my first spread. I have read so many blogpost from other scrapbookers getting techniques and tips that I can do to make this project possible. I finally decided that the best way to go about this is by doing a hybrid version of Project Life.

I used to work as a graphic artist so I am very much familiar with all Adobe software. I have used this to my advantage by creating my own journaling cards. I also used it to layout my design on each page. Eventually I needed help so I purchased some digital elements of PL.

Here is my title page that I made using a 8.5x11 cardstock:

This is a hybrid design. I did the background paint splashes and the days in Photoshop while the other elements are embellishments from my stash. Initially I wanted to purchase the Project Life kit but due to my location, shipping cost is as much as the PL kit. I opted to using my stash instead.

My week one spread has 3 pages on it. One hard thing about this project is choosing the photos you want to tell the story about. I have sooooo many and I wanted them all in it. So since that week has so much memories that I want to keep, I made 3 pages.

You can definitely see in my first page that I am still trying to do it right. I know that there is no right or wrong with PL but at this stage, I am still adjusting.

One great thing about PL is being able to place a lot of journaling. I am guilty of not incorporating journaling on my layouts so this is perfect for me. I also love that I can easily add memorabilia like the drawing Hannah did that week. Isn't she great at 3years old.

That weekend we went to a quick getaway at Crosswinds Tagaytay. I have over 100 photos to choose from since that place is divine. In order to incorporate the events that happened that day, I made a collage in Photoshop. The back page is still blank since my dh promised that he will write a short story about our quick vacation.

Love, love, love the photobooth photos here. It was taken when we were in Tagaytay as well. I think incorporating photos like this in PL is perfect. It added personality and attitude.

So that's it. Sorry if my Project Life is a bit different from what you are all used too. I am having so much fun with this and hopefully I can commit myself in finishing this for this year. Thanks for patiently reading this long post. I would appreciate any feedback or information that will help me with this project.

If you are doing this as well, leave me a link to your PL post so that I can drop by. I am sure I will learn so much from all of you.

Christmas Layouts

January is the month when I play scrap-my-Christmas-photos. I was so busy last month that I wasn't able to do any holiday pages. The good thing is, I was able to capture gorgeous photos last month that easily inspires me to create holiday layouts even though Christmas is over.

Here are 2 layouts that I was able to finish last week using BasicGrey's Nordic Holiday collection:

I just love the classic Green and Red color combination of this collection with the touch of blue and grey. It enhance and made my photos pop. I decided to make a playful design making different patterns to showcase the joyous holiday season.

Here are some of my favorite elements in this collection:

January 15 OUAS Challenge is up!

Journalling Criteria:
HELLO 2012 or GOODBYE 2011?

For this challenge, the journalling theme is new beginnings, upcoming adventures but also saying goodbye to yet another year.. Are you glad 2011 is over? Are you looking forward to starting fresh in 2012? What are your goals or resolutions for the year ahead? What are you most looking forward to? Or maybe you can journal about your thoughts for the new year.

Things that you can journal about: a new job, house, baby or new scrapping adventures or Design Teams. Are you taking time off work? Are you planning a holiday somewhere? Maybe your children are starting school or you are getting a new pet. Or you could tell us why you are glad 2011 is over or why you will miss it. Anything goes really!

Sketch:

My take:

I have used BasicGrey's amazing collection, Indie Bloom, for this layout. I love the bold and vibrant colors in this line and the intricate details of the patterns and the embellishments.

The word that I chose for this layout is "Free" because I wanted to be free from the pressure, problems and worries this 2012. The photo was perfect for this! Not only it represents the word but the colors worked perfectly well with the paper collection I chose.

a scraplift

Hi ladies, I am still alive and scrapping. I have been busy with my Project Life and still trying to figure out ways and techniques to make everything work for me. It was quite difficult since this will be my first time and I have not purchased the kit. I decided to use the stash that I have right now and improvise making it harder for me. Hopefully, the next few days will be systematic and everything will work out.

Anyway, last week I was given a task to lift a particular layout from the BasicGrey Flickr gallery. I was amazed about the simplicity and depth of the design that I immediately decided not to changed the design too much.

Here is the layout by mariemily:

Here is my interpretation:
SUPPLIES : [WISTERIA] WIS-1637 Garden Patio, WIS-1640 French Topiary, WIS-1642 Jardin, WIS-1646 Willow, WIS-1648 Primrose, WIS-1656 Sticker Alphabet, WIS-1655 Sticker Elements [LITTLE BLACK DRESS] LBD-3486 Drama Mod.

I strived to remain true to the overall design and just altered it to use 3 photos instead of one. I did several handcutting and layering here as well
