1hr Layout

Good day!

I would like to share to you an experience that I had from Creative Scrapper's 1hr Layout Challenge this evening. They require us to finish a LO within the hour based on the sketch they will provide.

Here is the sketch by Kristine:

This was my first time to join their forum and their challenge. Actually it was so overwhelming for me because I am a slow scrapper and the challenge was to finish it within the hour, 9pm-10pm EST. So I prepared my basic supplies like adhesives, scissors, cutting mat, photographs, etc. I gathered pps and cardstock that were within the color pink and orange so that I can incorporate Lexie's Challenge over at RSS.

And when the go signal was given, I was in panic. My blood rushed to my head. I don't know exactly how to start and what to do. So I start tearing, cutting and distressing. Oh my, time was like a wind during these challenges, was fast. First I noticed it was 9:10pm but after glancing what I thought was 5mins, the time was already 9:45pm. So I was really working it.

Here is my take, hope its not too messy:

Materials Used:
White cardstock
Fuschia Bazzill cardstock
Kelly Panacci's Atomic Daisies PP
Scenic Route Providence Franklin St PP
Tim Holts' Ranger Distress Ink (tea dye & walnut stain)

I admit the experience was great but I am not sure if it was for me. I love scrapping but I want to take my time while doing it. Experience the moment, the feeling and the creativity but with the 1hr challenge, I just had the urge to finish it.

Overall, I love this LO. Even though I finished it within an hour, I was proud of myself for still incorporating my style, the colors that I want, and create a LO that I truly love.

Indeed the experience was mind-blowing. I would like to thank Kristine for the great sketch, the members who joined and Creative Scrappers for another successful event. But I might not make it if you move it to a 30mins challenge :P lol

Just Being ME!

Good day!

I am very happy that finally I was able to scrap today. It has been days since my hubby bought me a lot of scrapping supplies from Lasting Impression's Valentine Sale and yet I wasn't able to scrap because my baby sought more attention for the past few days. Also, every time I pull out my stash to begin srapping, her eyes just goes nuts over it and will start to cry as if she's longing to join me. I think she's so fascinated with all the colors and shapes. Because of that, I wasn't able to scrap at all even though my mojo wants to burst already.

Finally, with a great suggestion by Kath from RSS to create a bottle with buttons, I was able to scrap. Actually, most of that moment was possible when Hannah was sleeping. When she woke up, she played with the bottle I gave her and was able to finish my take to Kath's LO Word Challenge "Happy"

Here is my take:

Materials Used: Rusty Pickle's Pop Star PP "Vanessa"; Prima flowers; fibers and ribbons; Jenni Downlin's Mini Bingo Card "LIVE"; some metal embellishments

Techniques applied: stitching; coloring, matting and distressing

Hope you like it!

i WON!!!

I really can't believe it, my hard work and passion to this craft is starting to payoff. It was only a few days since I won the RSS Cybercrop and now A2Z Scraplets just announced that my LO "Kung Hei Batchoy" was the judges choice for their sketch #1 challenge. Click here to check out the other winners.

This month is turning out to be really great. Not only was I very inspired with all the Valentines challenges that I see all over the net, I got to win a few prizes like $100 worth of BasicGrey's Bittersweet line, a RAK from Artz de Scrap coming from Feli, and now a RAK from A2ZScraplets.

Isn't it great? I'm getting all these stuff and enjoying my passion for scrapping.

The prizes from this sites and other sites are not my main reason for joining, but instead I join some challenges because they inspire me. I learn a lot from this blogs and websites since I just started scrapping a few months ago. They are my current resources for knowledge and motivations, blogs from talented scrappers and forums that encourage me to do what I love to do.

Again, thank you to all of you.

Valentine's RAK

Good day to everyone!

I hope everybody had a great valentines day. I myself enjoyed it very much. Unlike other couples, my hubby and I celebrated our Valentine differently this year. We went for a simple lunch after my shift then proceeded to Lasting Impressions. He is a total doll, he supported my hobby and was generous enough to buy me stuff. Aside, from being thoughtful, my hubby is also very creative, he scraps with me sometimes especially if I need some encouragement. Here was one of his LO:

Isn't he great? This was one of his first LO ever. He drew the moon and the sun.

I love my man very much, he's perfect for me. Eversince we got married, we never had a huge fight. He is very understanding, loyal, patient, supportive and my bestfriend. I always thank God for giving me such a wonderful partner.

Anyway, here is a peek of some of the items my hubby got for me this VD:

I have more than 70pcs of 12x12 PPs from brands like BoBunny, Kaiser, Teresa Collins, and a lot more, I also have dozens of Prima Flowers which I love very much, chipboards, journaling pages, some other embellishments. It's a huge rak from my one and only love.

Thanks Beh!!!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to scrap yet, we attended a few gatherings, birthdays, and we went out for a stroll with Hannah.

OMG!!!!

OMG! Today I was announced as the winner for RSS's February Cybercrop. I was able to get 176pts from the games and the challenges.

To be honest, I was speechless for a few hours because its so insane for me. I never thought I can win anything this early. I can't remove the smile on my face at all.

I just want to thank, first of all, RSS for their warm welcome, the DTs Tracey, Nat, Kirsti, Lexie, Liz, Kath, Rachel, Janine and Shell for all their support, inspiration and encouragement. I love you all! Thank you very much for believing in me.

Thank you to all the members, AM, Gayatri, Kellie, Vicky, Pauly, Amanda, Judith, Tina, and Jolene. You were all great! Such gorgeous and talented people. I have played with the best and I am so happy to be part of it. Thank you for all your encouragements, support and friendship.

I have learned a lot from this event. I learned to be more organized, I learned that scrapping is truly a very rewarding hobby, I learned that aussie's are more than great people, and especially, I learned that I can do it!

Again, thank you for the opportunity to be part of your scrappin' family. Looking forward to more exciting event in the future. And thank you for the goodies, I will truly love those BasicGrey products. They are my favorite!

February CC Entries

I am very lucky to be able to join a February CC an event in pre-celebration of Valentines. We had tons of games and challenges and we were chatting for more than 8hrs. I never thought this live crop session will be a blast. They were all accommodating even though I was the only international scrapper that participated.

One of the great thing about the event is the chance to win BasicGrey's Bittersweet Collection Pack. We just need to follow some guidelines like actively participating during the live chat session, submit at least 3 LO's from 9 different challenges, and adhere to the set deadline.

Here are some of my LO's for the February CC:
(Tracey's Mushy Card Challenge)- inspired by Jane Jones

(Liz's Card Challenge based on a sketch)

The winner will be based on accumulated points from the live session up to the total votes for each challenges. The winner will be announced on Friday, February 13.

I would like to thank all their Design Team for their warm welcome and their great challenges. You rock girls!!! Congratulations!!!

Love Challenge #16 Entry

Recently I added a Challenge Schedule box here at my blog so that I have a constant reminder of the different challenges from sites/blogs that I am currently visiting and actively participating with. I made this so I don't have to check the site/blogs all the time and locate those particular posts. I just took note of the different challenges, its theme and deadline and indicated it within the Challenge Schedule box.

This addition to my blog helped me to be more organized and more productive with my scrapping. Now, I just have to look at that box to know my next goal for my next LO.

At first, I decided to finish the LO for the challenges that has an earlier deadline schedule. But right now, when looking at those challenges, I start with the challenge that gave me the most inspiration or interest, or the best idea I am very much excited to do.

That first theme was Scrappin' Kids Love Challenge #16! - The challenge was about scrapping your lil' one and use an adjective that best describes her.

I was immediately inspired by the theme and ideas started poppin' in my head. I knew which pattern papers to use, which photos, and the layout that I will be doing. That was the first instance that I felt so excited about scrapping. I was working when I read about the challenge and was so excited that I wished my shift was done so that I can start scrapping.

Here is my take to their challenge:

TITLE: Innocent (for me, the best adjective to describe my Hannah or any other babies is INNOCENCE.)

MATERIALS USED: Basic Grey's Eva Collection Pack

PHOTOGRAPH: 2 combined photos edited through Photoshop. The pictures were from before and after Hannah's delivery from Csec last April 19, 2008.

TECHNIQUES APPLIED: matting, layering, and stitching

JOURNAL: A baby has no use for fancy clothes or expensive toys. They do not care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Just give them your heart and they will give you theirs.

They do not judge nor criticize the things you buy to them nor the parties you set. All that matters to them is they have milk to drink and hearing your voice when they are about to sleep.

They will love you no matter what you do or say because they are innocent. They do not know what is wrong or right, ugly or pretty, expensive or cheap.

FINALLY!!!

Finally, I was able to finish the 12 x 12 LO that I started last Monday. To be honest, I am quite satisfied with the finished layout. I incorporated several techniques, used my Craft Robo, added some painting, made a LO celebrating the Chinese New Year last January 26 (No! I'm not Chinese :P) and joining a challenge.

This LO is my take to A 2 Z Scraplets January Challenge. They required the participants to create a LO based on Emily's sketch. For more details, feel free to visit their blog at http://a2zscraplets.typepad.com/

Here is the sketch:
Here is my take:

Title: Kung Hei BATCHOY! > Yes I know, this should have been "Kung Hei Fat Choi," a Chinese greeting as Happy New Year. But, since I would like to add humor to my LO as well as incorporating the celebration, I made it "Batchoy" which is a short term of "Tabatchoy," a local colloquial word for teasing that means chubby/fat. Hehehe

Materials Used: Patterned Papers from Fiddlerz3. The black background was designed through Photoshop since I do not have any black pattern papers or cardstock left. Big flower was from Rekindled Moment. Black Sand and Sticker Gems are from National Bookstore.

Photograph: Hannah Dominique taken January 26, 2009 wearing a red Chinese inspired vest. Photographed by yours truly. MWAH!!! Hehehe

Journalling: These are the traits and characteristics of a baby born on 2008 with a Chinese Zodiac of "Year of the Rat." I do know that Jauary 26, 2009 was the new year of the Ox but since its inappropriate to get predictions for a baby, I'd rather indicate here the Rat traits based on the Chinese Zodiac.

YEAR OF THE RAT
great leadership qualities
keen sense of observation
has a strong sense of reality
love to be loved and cuddled
possess prudence and perception
status, money, title and recognition is important to them
friendly and sociable
eager to learn

Techniques: I tried several techniques for this layout. I would like incorporate the other painting materials that I have and be confident to try and explore new techniques.

As I have mentioned on my previous post, having studied art hindered me from going to the next level, FREEDOM. It is hard for me to explore new things, try unconventional design, and to have fun. I am always cautious about things like spacing, colors, and sticking to traditional stuff that I know. With this being said, it took me almost a week to finish one LO.

With this LO, I tried to explore a bit. I was really scared. Here are some of the techniques:

(used Craft Robo for cutting this flowers)

(Flowers was painted with watercolor and colored pencils then distressed using a black stamp. Inner part of the flower was made from the same pattern papers used from the background, made Lollipop Circle Flowers from it. Then, the swirls were actually created using black sand. I covered the Glue dots with it).

(The background and the frame of the photograph was splattered with black, orange, and red watercolor)

I really enjoyed doing this LO even though it took me days to finish it. I had fun playing with watercolor and learned to use my Craft Robo.

It turned out pretty okay. Dont yah think? :P
