Fussy Cutting

Dealing with life can be stressful. Raising a toddler is very tiring. Working full time is exhausting. These are just a few reasons why I love scrapbooking so much. Whenever I am in my scraproom I feel relief, peaceful, and quiet. It is my me time. I am not creating everyday but I always look forward to it.

One of the common technique I love is cutting intricate patterns from pps. I spend most of my creative time doing this because it is very relaxing. I also love the layering it can provide to a page. One of the best patterned papers to work with using this technique is Webster Pages.

Here was a layout that I did a few months ago when I guest design for Webster Pages:

My Little STAR

I am really happy that I am getting my groove back. I love scrapbooking and I am thrilled that I scrap more often now compared to the last few months. Not only do I create projects for my DT assignments, I was able to scrap for me. Next to my list is scrapbooking photos of myself!

For now, here is another layout of my little star using Scraptastic Club's Just Beachy kit (my 5th layout from the kit). I had so much fun creating my second layout. I layered piece upon piece of papers, washi tape, journaling card and some elements that came with the add on. I love negative space layout and I think this turned up pretty well considering it was created for 30 minutes.

MME + Imaginarium Design Chipboard

I was inspired with all the negative pages I see online. I used a black and white photo to contrast the bright colors of the MME collection. I made the background subtle by dabbing white gesso on most part of my design. With the addition of stamps, mists and watercolour pencils, the background blended well with my theme.

I love adding stamps randomly as part of my background. It gives this journaling effect that I wanted. Stamps like text, texture, shapes is always perfect to personalize background.

Products Used: My Minds Eye Fine and Dandy collection, Ranger Ideology stamp, October Afternoon Mists, Lily Bee rubons, Faber Castel watercolour pencil, Gesso, Washi tape.

Imaginarium Design Chipboards used:

For the chipboard, heart chipboard, I dipped it to gesso and added sand to build the texture. You might notice that I do this often with my chipboards, that is because I love the textured effect it creates.

Playing with my Cameo

It has been a month since I received my Silhouette Cameo but I only have used it 3x. Not because I am lazy, but because of some technical problem and now, I am still waiting for some replacement.

Luckily, I was able to do this background before the problem. I have used a file from Silhouette Online Store, one of the files I chose to avail my $10 GC.

MME Fine and Dandy

I enjoyed making this page. The diecut design made everything so much easier. With simple addition of embellishments, I was able to create something I really like. I just wish my replacement blade arrives soon because I really wanted to create more using my Cameo.

Pink from a Beach themed kit?

I know the Just Beachy kit from Scraptastic Club is mostly a combination of blue and yellow but have you noticed the pinks as well? I did! Since it is not that much because of the theme, I made my own background using my mists to create a sunburst effect.

This photo of Hannah was taken a few months ago. Just an ordinary day playing on our roof-deck. We have plants all over there and this is where she also bikes and swim.

Here are the 2 kits for October! Click the kit name to get more information about the kit.

At first glance with a name like Hall Pass and some of the school themed embellishments, you would think this is a school kit. But check out the colors and the back sides of the papers, it is much more than that. This kit is chocked full of fun elements. Check out the frames, tags and the exclusive pieces Jessica added! I love the variety in alphas.

Our 2nd kit, a beautiful mix of blues, greens, yellows with a bit of teal. A great versatile kit documenting everyday moments. This kit is full of Echo Park, Jillibean, My Mind's Eye, Pink Paisley and check out the little tiny Studio Calico wood tweets. I love the exclusive tags Jessica has added to the kit as well.

a layout + sketch + Oct SNEAK

Hi everyone! Just a quick post about Scraptastic Club's 4rth Week September Challenge from the blog here. A few of the DTs participated to interpret the beautiful sketch by Heather. The sketch has so much possiblities by simply rotating, flipping, and/or scrambling the layers and photos.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout:

I love negative space pages lately so for my interpretation, I made everything smaller. I also replaced the lower photo part of the sketch as my journaling spot. I wanted to tell a brief story about our trip since I was very inspired by this photo of my little girl, Hannah. It was taken last summer when we had our vacation at Bali.

Blue Skies

Such a great color palette that you just can't go wrong with this one....lots of blues, teals, yellows and a touch of green. This kit will be perfect for anything!!!!! Don't you just love those little tweets??? They're so precious and sweet.

Hall Pass

Now don't be fooled by it's name. Although this will be a great kit for School themed projects, there's definitely much more to this kit than a School theme. Lots of reds, yellows and greys with a hint of greens, blues and teals. Such great fall colors in here. And how about those Scraptastic Club exclusive speech bubble die cuts???? I {heart} this kit, and so will you!

It's ME!

Like most scrapbookers with gorgeous kids, scrapping photos of myself comes 2nd. I think it is not because our kids are cuter but it is more on our self criticism. My jaw is too big, my mouth is huge, I am too fat. I can go on forever with all the wrong things we can see in ourselves but we should all consider the reason why we are scrapbooking.

11x8.5 using Basic Grey Paper Cottage collection

Sometimes I think that I scrapbook to remind myself how amazing my daughter is, how each milestone is priceless, and how she grows up so fast. However, I need to remind myself, what if one day I am no longer here. My daughter would love to see and remember her mom's life not totally hers. She will love to see the memories with the imperfection of her mommy. She will treasure anything that will remind her of me. So, I should always consider to scrap my photos and my stories.

Thanks for viewing!

 Add On

I have created a few layouts from this kit. The first one I am sharing with everyone right now is a layout where I personalized my own background. I have used 3 colors of mists, some stamps, transparencies, liquid pearls and some washi tape.

I have also made my own washi tape using some strips of patterned paper that came with the kit. I learned this technique from Danielle Flander's blog here. I am loving this technique so much because it is easy to make and I can save a few dollars as well.

Give this technique a try and I am sure you will get addicted to it as well. You can maximize your stash and create a more personalized page. Thanks for dropping by!

Scrapping for fun...for me

I think I remember mentioning before that I decided to take a break not from scrapbooking but from too much DT responsibilities. It has always been for DT work since 2009 having 4-7 DT gigs a month, at least 20 projects.

I got so addicted with all the assignments leaving myself creating under pressure. I barely scrap for fun or for me during those years of addiction. I used my assignments to motivate and inspire myself when I scrap which is a bit wrong. Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for all the opportunities that came my way over the years. It helped me grow as a scrapbooker and I gained a lot of friends that are very supportive but I missed scrapbooking without the pressure.

That is why this time around, I only limit myself to at least 3 DT gigs per month. I love the responsibilities and the challenges that comes with it and I don't want to let that go. I wanted to keep sharing my talent and promote the products that I love.

But I wanted more time to scrap about anything and doing whatever without the pressure of making sure that I reach a certain standard. With a much organised setup, I can discover more about my style and be more creative because there are no limits or boundaries that needs to be followed. The fun part is, I am loving what I am creating lately!!!

Here are a few layouts that I did...not for any DT assignment :)

April 15, 2012

Here I have used some leftover BasicGrey Clippings line that I got when I was on their DT. I played with paint, stamps and layering here.

Precious Baby

For this page, I used assorted Crate Paper goodies. I always love white space layouts because they are the easiest to make.

Lines In A Page

Hi everyone! I want to share one of my recent layout. This page was quite easy to make after reading some PDFs from Nic Howard's online class at Big Picture Classes.

One of the key element to consider my layout a successful one is if my photos are the focal point of my page. We can do this through different approaches like using the rule of thirds, clustering, and/or using large photos to name a few.

With this page, I used lines to draw the viewers attention to the photo. I have used triangular strips of patterned paper and twine to point towards the photos. By doing this, all eyes will go directly to the photos.
