It's ME!

Like most scrapbookers with gorgeous kids, scrapping photos of myself comes 2nd. I think it is not because our kids are cuter but it is more on our self criticism. My jaw is too big, my mouth is huge, I am too fat. I can go on forever with all the wrong things we can see in ourselves but we should all consider the reason why we are scrapbooking.

Sometimes I think that I scrapbook to remind myself how amazing my daughter is, how each milestone is priceless, and how she grows up so fast. However, I need to remind myself, what if one day I am no longer here. My daughter would love to see and remember her mom's life not totally hers. She will love to see the memories with the imperfection of her mommy. She will treasure anything that will remind her of me. So, I should always consider to scrap my photos and my stories.

Scrapping for fun...for me

I think I remember mentioning before that I decided to take a break not from scrapbooking but from too much DT responsibilities. It has always been for DT work since 2009 having 4-7 DT gigs a month, at least 20 projects.

I got so addicted with all the assignments leaving myself creating under pressure. I barely scrap for fun or for me during those years of addiction. I used my assignments to motivate and inspire myself when I scrap which is a bit wrong. Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for all the opportunities that came my way over the years. It helped me grow as a scrapbooker and I gained a lot of friends that are very supportive but I missed scrapbooking without the pressure.

That is why this time around, I only limit myself to at least 3 DT gigs per month. I love the responsibilities and the challenges that comes with it and I don't want to let that go. I wanted to keep sharing my talent and promote the products that I love.

But I wanted more time to scrap about anything and doing whatever without the pressure of making sure that I reach a certain standard. With a much organised setup, I can discover more about my style and be more creative because there are no limits or boundaries that needs to be followed. The fun part is, I am loving what I am creating lately!!!

Lines In A Page

Hi everyone! I want to share one of my recent layout. This page was quite easy to make after reading some PDFs from Nic Howard's online class at Big Picture Classes.

One of the key element to consider my layout a successful one is if my photos are the focal point of my page. We can do this through different approaches like using the rule of thirds, clustering, and/or using large photos to name a few.

With this page, I used lines to draw the viewers attention to the photo. I have used triangular strips of patterned paper and twine to point towards the photos. By doing this, all eyes will go directly to the photos.

My style differs from one layout to the other. I love experimenting and trying out new techniques as I create a page. I am into handcutting, misting, distressing, photo editing and layering.

Baby Bubwit

I am very blessed to have a beautiful baby girl. Our nickname for her is Bubwit, our local term for mice, because she was born in the year of the rat.

For this layout, I focused on adjectives that starts with the letter "B" and used lots and lots of banners by BasicGrey Clippings line. Unfortunately I dont have my Scraptastic kit yet because I just got invited to join the team just recently. Surely, I am very excited to play with next month's kit.

Doilies

I have hundreds of doilies in different sizes and shapes. I fell in love with doilies a few years back when I saw an online baking store selling them in bulk for a few dollars. I am not a baker but I am a scrapbooker and I knew that it will be a perfect embellishment on layouts and cards. On my page, I ruffled the doilies in layers so that it would look like a  flower-like embellishment.

Here, I have created a layout using the gorgeous Plumeria collection by BasicGrey. I love the color combination  of this line. The complimentary colors of Violet and Yellow is soooo beautiful.

a Project Life 12x12 page

I am one of those who started Project Life this year. I thought it would be easy but as life goes on at the same time,so does the weeks I need to catch up. Currently I am missing over 15 weeks. The good thing is, everything is documented in my iPad and I all my photos are organized. I just need to have some time off to do it.

One of the page style I do for my Project Life is inserting a 12x12 layouts. I do this when I want to highlight an event or tell a story about the week. I also compensate this for a page layout that I do with a 12x12 photo collage from vacations.

Here I have used BasicGrey's What's Up collection. It was perfect for our Singapore trip last summer. I adore the design of this line, it made embellishing the page much easier.

BasicGrey PB&J layout

Definitely one of my stress reliever is hand cutting patterns from patterned paper and using them as an embellishments. In this layout, I hand cut the flowers from the Daisy Mae and Toasted patterned papers. I love that the PB&J has a variety of colorful patterned papers to choose from. Using flowers as inspiration, I also made a handmade flower. To create the flower, I first punched 9 one inch circles then folded it like a cone shape. When adhered together following a circle pattern, I was able to improvise my own flower embellishment.

BasicGrey Scrapbook Sketch : 6.4.12

It was my turn at BasicGrey sketch challenge. This week’s sketch is for a single page, two photo layout.Sketches are always my go-to when I need immediate inspiration. For my layout, I decided to rotate the sketch to accommodate the portrait photos that I have. These photos were post edited using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom so that I can get the purple hues that I wanted. I have used the beautiful Plumeria collection because I am in love with the soft tones of purple that is in this collection.

BasicGrey Konnichiwa Layouts

I adore the Konnichiwa collection because it is perfect for scrapbooking my daughter's photos since she has this tiny cute eyes. The colors from this collection is also very girlie with all the pinks and reds.

For this layout, I did a simple layout by maximizing the 12x12 collection pack. I always make sure to keep the sample page that came with all BasicGrey collection pack. I find them perfect for making banners, adding small square or rectangular shapes and adding grid design to my layouts without the need to cutout from a whole sheet of 12x12 patterned paper.

 I also had so much fun cutting out the flower patterns from this collection. They are colorful, perfect for making them as an embellishment on my page.

My 2nd layout was for BasicGrey's Basic Sketch blogpost. Every Monday, the BG blog provides sketches with DT examples to help others jumpstart a project. Participants also has the chance to win BG's collection packs by simply making a project inspired by the sketches posted. Check it out here!

Every Chinese New Year I dress up my daughter in different Chinese inspired outfits. I have scrapped her previous photos but waited for Konnichiwa collection because I know it will go well with her photo this year. Even though the Konnichiwa line is Japanese inspired, the Asian theme and the cute Japanese girl sticker that came with the element sticker sheet made everything perfect.

BasicGrey + Scraplift Chain

Recently, I participated in a Scraplift Chain at My Scrapbook Nook which we have been doing for some time now. You can read the mechanics here. I love this type of challenges because you will never know what the main layout looks like until the reveal. Happy Friday everyone! I just want to do a quick post of a layout that I did for BasicGrey's blogpost last week. It features the gorgeous Kissing Booth collection.

I hand cut the hearts from the Heartbreaker patterned paper and used scraps from the other papers to make different heart sizes and hooked them together by handstitching.
